Which cruise lines sail from Port Everglades?

Our Port Everglades guide directory includes Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Holland America Line, Celebrity Cruises and five more. Sailings vary by season; check the dated sailing calendar and your cruise documents to confirm departures and terminal assignments.

How much is parking at Port Everglades?

Port Everglades publishes a daily maximum rather than one flat rate: $20 a day for a standard vehicle and $25 for an oversized one, in whichever garage or lot serves your terminal. Shorter stays cost less, and the meter starts when you pull your ticket rather than at a set hour. Nothing can be reserved — you pay on the way out — so the choice is which garage, not whether you booked. The parking guide pairs each terminal to its garage and prices the off-site lots against that cap.

Passport & Documents

Bring a valid passport even on a closed-loop cruise — one that leaves and returns to the same U.S. port, where a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID are technically enough — because only a passport gets you home if you miss the ship at a foreign port (full document list in our first-time cruise tips).

Need to apply? The nearest passport acceptance facility is the Fort Lauderdale Main Post Office (1900 W Oakland Park Blvd, Fort Lauderdale) — appointments recommended, call 954-765-4636.

Parking for your cruise

Driving & Parking at the PortCruisers driving from Florida or nearby statesCosts & travel details

Cost$20 per day, the daily maximum in the port's garages and lots

Port Everglades has two main parking garages: Heron (1,818 spaces, Cruise Terminals 2 and 4) and Palm (1,966 spaces, Cruise Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29), plus surface Lots A, B and C. Follow the color-coded signs from any port entrance.

Pro tip: Navigate by the terminal number on your cruise documents rather than by your cruise line. Heron connects to Terminal 2 by an air-conditioned bridge with moving sidewalks from its fifth floor; Palm covers Terminals 19 to 29, with a free shuttle for the gap to Terminal 29. Terminal 18 has no garage of its own, so use Lot C beside it or Lot B between 18 and 19. Both garages have a seven-foot clearance — measure to the top of your roof box, not the roofline. Cash, credit and debit are all accepted, on contactless machines on the first floor of the garages.

Other ways to reach the ship

From Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL)Most cruisers flying inCosts & travel details

CostTaxi: $18-$21, published by Broward County and repeated by Port Everglades, which calls it an estimate subject to a fuel surcharge; one other county page prints $12 for the same trip. Rideshare: no published fare. Shared shuttle: no per-person fare published by any operator we checked.

FLL sits about 2 miles from Port Everglades — the closest major airport to any cruise port in the US. It's the only port in the nation located adjacent to an airport. The drive itself is 15-20 min, though traffic lights on the access roads make it feel longer than the distance suggests.

Pro tip: Allow 45 minutes from landing to account for luggage claim and cruise terminal processing on top of the short ride. Uber is usually the best deal for couples; shared shuttles are better for solo travelers.

From Miami International Airport (MIA)Cruisers who found significantly cheaper flights to MIACosts & travel details

CostNo fare published for this direction. Miami-Dade eliminated its flat-fare zones, so a taxi leaving MIA runs on the meter with a $15 airport minimum and a $2.00 per-trip charge.

MIA is about 30-35 miles from Port Everglades. Cheaper flights sometimes make this worth considering, but factor in the longer transfer.

Pro tip: I-95 traffic can add significant time, especially during rush hour (7-9 AM, 4-7 PM). If your flight arrives during peak times, add 45-60 min buffer. Consider staying near MIA and driving to the port in the morning.

Hotel Shuttle ServicesCruisers who want to bundle hotel + parking + transportCosts & travel details

CostBundled into the package rate, which the hotels quote at booking rather than publish.

Many hotels near the port offer cruise shuttle packages. Quality and timing vary — some are one-way only with fixed departure times.

Pro tip: Always confirm shuttle times before booking — some only run once in the morning. The Rodeway Inn & Suites publishes the clearest terms nearby: a complimentary shuttle to the terminal and back to your car, with up to 10 days of parking included and additional days at $10 each. Price any package against the port's own $20 daily maximum plus the room you would have booked anyway.

Uber/Lyft from AnywhereFlexibility and door-to-door serviceCosts & travel details

CostNot published. Rideshare pricing is dynamic and no first party publishes a Port Everglades fare, so we quote none.

Rideshare is readily available throughout Fort Lauderdale. The port has designated pickup/drop-off areas at each terminal.

Pro tip: On busy embarkation days (weekends especially), prices can surge in the morning. Check prices early. The port drop-off areas are well-organized — drivers know where to go. Request to be dropped at your specific terminal.

TaxiCruisers who prefer fixed pricing over surge-based rideshareCosts & travel details

CostFLL to the port: $18-$21 on Broward County's own table, which calls its figures estimates. Between terminals inside the port: $8 flat, published by Port Everglades.

Traditional taxis are available at FLL airport and can be hailed at hotels. Flat rates from the airport are common.

Pro tip: Taxis can be a good deal when Uber is surging. Flat rates mean no surprises. Ask the driver to confirm the rate before getting in. Taxi stands at FLL are in the lower level of each terminal.

Boarding Tips

Princess Cruises

1.

Pack a carry-on day bag with essentials

You probably know this one, but it bears repeating: regardless of which line you're sailing, your checked luggage won't arrive at your cabin until mid-to-late afternoon. Pack swimsuits, sunscreen, any medications, phone chargers, and a change of clothes in a bag you carry on board. You'll want to start enjoying the ship immediately.

Disney: Download the My Disney Cruise Line app. Norwegian: Download the NCL app. MSC: Download MSC for Me. All require online check-in before arrival — don't wait until the terminal.

Arrive at the time shown in your cruise line's boarding documents.

Check-in and arrival times

Princess check-in typically runs through the Princess app (MedallionClass), where you complete your documents and select an arrival window ahead of the sailing. Finishing everything early typically puts you in the faster walk-through lane at the pier.

Windows and opening dates vary by ship, homeport, and loyalty tier, so always follow your cruise line's instructions for your specific sailing.
