Cruise port webcams, and what each one can actually see

Port of San Franciscochecked 2026-09-24

The camera that watched the cruise berths has gone dark. StreamTime Live’s Pier 23 Cafe camera, looking across the bay just south of the Pier 27 terminal, stopped broadcasting on 2026-09-15, and YouTube now answers its page with “This live stream recording is not available”; the publisher has not started a replacement, and its own San Francisco page still embeds the ended stream. The live streams checked that still run do not show a berth, or do not say they do. ABC7’s camera on top of its San Francisco broadcast center is described only by where it stands. On Treasure Island, Teleport.camera describes its Mersea restaurant feed as the skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge, and ABC7’s second camera there comes with a description that says only where it stands; neither names a cruise pier, and neither publishes any terms for sharing the stream. PIER 39’s own camera watches its sea lions, and EarthCam’s two city feeds look from the Maritime National Historical Park toward the Golden Gate, Alcatraz and Ghirardelli Square, and over the skyline from a Union Square hotel roof.

Port of Seattlechecked 2026-09-24

None of the cameras checked watches either cruise berth. Pier 66 does have a live camera — it carries the name Anthony’s Pier 66, and the Seattle Historic Waterfront Association embeds it on newseattlewaterfront.org — but it stands on the cruise pier looking the other way, south over Bell Harbor Marina to the Great Wheel, the downtown skyline and the container cranes, with the Bell Street cruise berth behind it and Pier 91 out of frame. Its operator publishes no description of the view at all. The association’s Live Views page carries exactly two moving pictures, that camera and the Seattle Aquarium’s sea otter tank; everything else on it is a still — KING and KOMO weather frames, Seattle DOT traffic cameras and the National Park Service’s Mount Rainier image. Nothing checked is closer: Elliott Bay Marina, next door to Pier 91, has dropped its camera (elliottbaymarina.co/live no longer returns a page, and the marina’s own site no longer mentions a camera), and seattlewaterfrontwebcam.com still says on its front page that it “ran for 15 years and shut down in November 2024”. The Port of Seattle’s YouTube channel carries none; its only live broadcasts are four past events. The Space Needle’s 360° camera looks out over Seattle from the top of the tower, but the Space Needle says its images are “updated every 10 minutes” — a still, not a stream — so it is not a live cruise cam and we will not sell it as one.

Port of New Orleanschecked 2026-09-24

On 2026-09-24 the camera that watched the cruise wharves did not change its picture between two fetches minutes apart. It looked north from the Port of New Orleans administration building at the Julia Street and Erato Street terminals. Cruising Earth still carries its page and still shows a picture, but the page’s own refresh request answered with no new image, and both fetches returned the identical frame. The port’s own links are gone — portnola.com/cruise-webcam 404s, and portnola.com/cruise carries schedules, parking and terminals but no camera. No replacement turned up, and the listings that suggest one are stale: baysider.com still advertises a “Port of New Orleans Julia Street Cruise Ship Terminal Webcam”, but the link behind that listing is a bare image address that no longer answers at all, and the port’s old webcam page at portno.com now answers 404. NOLA.com’s River Cam, which covered the bend between Algiers Point and the French Quarter, stopped broadcasting on 2017-01-01 and its YouTube page reports no live stream. Louisiana DOTD’s 511LA network is 336 roadway cameras that watch traffic; the nearest to the terminals watches US 90B traffic at the east-bank end of the Crescent City Connection, not the river wharves. None of the other New Orleans cameras checked shows the wharves either; EarthCam’s Bourbon Street feed, for one, is in the French Quarter, a mile and a half from the berths with no river in frame.
