Fares are the lowest advance figure each operator advertises, not the price you will necessarily pay on the day, and a coach or rail figure is priced per traveler while a private transfer is priced per car. The two coach rows are the same 032 service boarded at different points, so they are alternatives to each other, not legs of one trip. Should you stay in London the night before, or go straight to Southampton?

What time do you actually have to be at the terminal?

Southampton has five cruise terminals across two dock estates, and they are not interchangeable. The Western Docks group — Mayflower, Horizon and City — is reached from the A33 West Quay Road via Dock Gate 10, with Mayflower also reachable via Dock Gate 20 from the M271 and Redbridge Road. The Eastern Docks pair — Ocean and QEII — is reached from the A33 Platform Road via Dock Gate 4.

If you do stop in London, what does that add?
It adds one more move with the bags, and one more ticket. Heathrow publishes the Elizabeth line as starting from £13.90 for a journey to or from the airport where that journey starts, ends or passes through Zone 1, and publishes its frequency: six trains an hour serving Terminals 2 and 3, four an hour between Terminal 4 and Abbey Wood via Canary Wharf, and two an hour between Terminal 5 and Shenfield via Stratford. It does not publish a journey time to Paddington, and points readers to TfL for times.
The next morning, South Western Railway puts the average Waterloo to Southampton Central journey at around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Add to that whatever it takes to get from your London hotel to Waterloo with cases at commuter hour, which is the part people underestimate.

Disembarkation happens on a schedule you do not control, and a coach or train booked to a fixed departure time is a commitment made before you know when you will actually be off the ship.
