Most cruise lines assign an arrival window during online check-in, and arriving inside that window is the best way to avoid the longest terminal lines. General boarding usually runs from late morning into the early afternoon, but the exact timing varies by ship, port, and sail date. Follow the check-in instructions your cruise line sends you — they always take priority over general guidance.
Where does Scarlet Lady depart from at PortMiami?
The current schedule lists Terminal V (Virgin Voyages). Confirm your terminal with the cruise line before traveling.
Drop-off: You can't miss Terminal V — it's the striking three-story building with geometric, palm tree-inspired architecture. Drop off luggage and passengers at the covered entrance. The terminal opened in 2022 and the design is intentionally Instagram-worthy.
When should I board Scarlet Lady?
Virgin Voyages handles check-in in the Virgin Voyages app, where Sailors typically complete their documents and choose an embarkation time slot ahead of the voyage. Slots are limited, so pick yours as soon as check-in opens for your sailing.
Windows and opening dates vary by ship, homeport, and loyalty tier, so always follow your cruise line's instructions for your specific sailing.

Getting to the Port
From Miami International Airport (MIA)
MIA is about 10 miles from PortMiami — roughly 20 min by car, traffic permitting. This is the closest major airport.
From Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL)
FLL is about 35-45 minutes from PortMiami. Sometimes flights to FLL are cheaper, but factor in the longer transfer time.
Driving & Port Parking
PortMiami has parking garages at each terminal. The port is on an island — take the Port Boulevard tunnel from I-395 (toll-free) or the MacArthur Causeway from South Beach. Royal Caribbean Terminal A uses Garage A, which requires an online reservation and whose rate the port does not publish. Carnival Terminal F uses Garage F ($10/day short-term, $25/day for the cruise duration). Norwegian's Garage B is $35/day for cruise-length parking. Surface Lot E, the open-air option and the only one without a height limit, is $25/day.
Hotel Shuttle Services
Many Miami hotels offer cruise shuttle packages, especially those near the airport. Quality and timing vary widely.

Local Tip
Scarlet Lady sails from Terminal V, Virgin Voyages' Instagram-worthy geometric building that's unlike any other cruise terminal. This is an 18+ only line, so the terminal atmosphere reflects that adult-focused vibe. Check the Virgin Voyages app for current parking instructions and rates. The terminal has some boutique amenities, but stop at the CVS on Biscayne Blvd before arriving for anything you might need — it's the most convenient drugstore on the way in.
